Tincknell remains with Ford for rest of WEC
Harry Tincknell will remain with Ford for the remainder of this year’s World Endurance Championship.
The factory Nissan driver has been given permission by the Japanese manufacturer to continue in the GTE Pro class driving a Ford GT alongside fellow Brits Andy Priaulx and Marino Franchitti after his initial deal just covered the first three races.
Tincknell finished second in the race at Spa but a gearbox issue wrecked the trio’s Le Mans 24 Hour race.
“I am massively excited now to have the opportunity to complete the WEC with Ford this year,” said Tincknell. “Since I moved across from single-seaters to endurance racing in 2014, it’s always been my ambition to compete full time in the WEC.
“I’ve now got a very busy end to 2016 what with the final four races in the European Le Mans Series plus six WEC races.”
Tincknell is leading the ELMS points driving a Gibson-nissan alongside Simon Dolan and Giedo van der Garde.
