Danish ace gets fresh Mono deal
Danish teenager Cato Poulsen has extended his UK racing programme to take in a further three rounds of the Monoposto Championship after an impressive debut last month.
Poulsen, 16, made his UK racing bow in the nonchampionship Monoposto races for the Tiedeman Trophy at Rockingham last month. He qualified on pole in the Gulfsport team’s Ralph Firman-built RFR1000 machine and won both races.
He will now take part in the next round at Brands Hatch this weekend, as well two further rounds at Donington Park and Silverstone.
Poulsen said: “My first race day in the UK was pretty special to get pole, two race wins and a new lap record. The organisers, marshals and competitors were all very friendly and demonstrated sportsmanship. The UK is the home of motorsports in many ways so I’m looking forward to my next races here.”
The Brands Hatch Mono rounds will also feature two further teenage entrants, with former Junior Saloon Car Championship driver Alex Fores making his debut in a Van Diemen RF97 Formula Ford Zetec and Chinese Jacky Liu handling a Tatuus Formula Renault.
