Brawdy Stages Rally

Brave driving in persistent foggy conditions gave Subaru Impreza WRC duo Paul Fowden and Paul Wakeley victory by 1m13s following a dominant display.
Early morning thick fog drastically reduced driver visibility, but Nigel Gibbard / Ceri Morgan (Darrian T90) seemed unfazed and led after stage one. Fowden fought back immediately, taking nine seconds out of his rivals on stage two and moving into a lead he never relinquished. As conditions improved in the afternoon, Fowden set three successive fastest times to consolidate victory.
Carl O’grady, with co-driver Ellie Williams in only her second-ever senior rally, challenged Fowden hard and consistently set top three times on their way to second in a brilliant display in their Nissan Sunny F2.
Thomas Cooper recovered well from a slow opening stage to overhaul John Lewis/jason Thomas (Darrian T9) for fourth and, when Gibbard slid off the track into retirement on the penultimate test, he and co-driver Paul Williams steered their Mitsubishi Lancer E9 into the final podium spot.
