Ki­wis top Paris to Pek­ing ad­ven­ture

Teams from New Zealand and Aus­tralia were the win­ners of the 2016 edi­tion of the Pek­ing to Paris Mo­tor Chal­lenge, which fin­ished on Sun­day af­ter more than a month of com­pe­ti­tion.

A to­tal of 98 crews fin­ished. New Zealan­ders Bruce and Harry Wash­ing­ton won the prize for the Vin­tageants in their 1929 Chrysler 75 Road­ster, while Mark Pick­er­ing and Dave Boddy from Aus­tralia won the Clas­sic cat­e­gory in their 1973 Dat­sun 240Z. “Each coun­try was like its own rally,” said Harry Wash­ing­ton. “Once you crossed the bor­der, you never knew what you’d get.”
