Sergey Sirotkin overcame a pitstop penalty to take his second GP2 win in consecutive weekends at Hockenheim. The Russian started from pole but illegally pitted under a virtual safety car. Stewards decided that this stop wouldn’t count and he would have to pit again, which appeared to hand Raffaele Marciello the advantage. Brit Alex Lynn won the second race after getting the jump on poleman Antonio Giovinazzi, while Sirotkin again starred as he battled through to second. That result means the ART driver has now taken the points lead from Pierre Gasly… There was more British success in GP3 as Jake Hughes ( right) and Jack Aitken finished first and second in the second race. Antonio Fuoco won the opener after passing Nyck de Vries and Alexander Albon on a virtual safety car restart. It was a disappointing weekend for Albon who retired from the second race and lost first place in the standings to Charles Leclerc… The European F3 wins were shared between Lance Stroll, George Russell and Joel Eriksson at Spa. Eriksson secured his maiden win in the finale after poleman Russell suddenly stalled – despite making a good initial getaway… Simon Pagenaud claimed his fourth Indycar win of the season at MidOhio last weekend after profiting from a caution period at two-thirds distance. Almost all the drivers headed for the pits when Jack Hawksworth crashed and leader Mikhail Aleshin was denied his maiden win when he collided with Josef Newgarden as he left his box and had to pit the following lap to change his front wing… Brit Dean Stoneman will have his first Indycar test with the Andretti Autosport team at Watkins Glen later this month…
