Timm makes debut in silhouette Audi

German driver Volker Timm made his debut in BARC South Eastern’s Intermarque series at Brands Hatch, fielding an Audi TT clone converted from short track specification.

The 61-year-old from Duisburg raced at Brands in 2002 to demonstrate the “super silhouette” concept when it was introduced in the UK.

A lengthy break from competition driving then followed after a disagreement with the German tax authorities over the distinction between legitimate business costs and an extravagant hobby.

“I’m going to be on holiday when the next championship round takes place but hope to do the last two of the year,” he said. “If I enjoy it and can be competitive enough I’ll build a new car for next year, because this one is 15 years old.”

Timm took a best result of 13th in race two.
