French driver Nicolas Ciamin was hit with a two-minute penalty for rolling his Ford Fiesta R2T on a Rally Finland stage after it had already been stopped.

The Drive DMACK Fiesta Trophy competitor was driving Ouninpohja as a road section after it had been neutralised following Lorenzo Bertelli’s accident.

Ciamin is reported to have rolled four times having gone off the road at 82mph.

The stewards fined him 1000 euros (£844) and handed him a time penalty of two minutes for the next WRC event Ciamin contests, which will be the next DMACK round in Germany later this month.

DDFT co-ordinator Phil Short said: “It seems he was checking his notes in the same way the other guys were and he was caught out. He’s learned a lesson and, as he’s said, the time penalty will hurt more than the fine.”
