Kajetanowicz heads home to extend European lead
Kajto Kajetanowicz will aim to put himself further out of reach in the pursuit of back-to-back European titles when he starts his home event, Rally Rzeszow, this week.
The defending champion is 37 points ahead of his nearest challenger Alexey Lukyanuk, but has the chance to double that gap with his Russian rival sitting out the Polish event.
Ford Fiesta R5 driver Kajetanowicz’s main rival will be Bryan Bouffier, a four-time winner in Rzeszow, who drives a DS3 R5. But the Pole can afford to let the Frenchman chase the win – he’s no threat to his ERC title chase.
Two-time Rzeszow winner Kajetanowicz said: “Rally Rzeszow brings me nothing but positive memories. I am thinking about the championship at the same time, I will drive this rally with all my heart and I am sure that my team have the same plan.”
The event starts from Rzeszow tomorrow (Thursday) and finishes on Saturday after a total of 132 competitive asphalt miles. The ERC’S first return to Poland since 2013 doesn’t include the Junior ERC series, which is back for the Barum Rally at the end of the month.
