Can-am Special is back after 20 years
Former GT racer Matt Manderson raced the unique Fred Davies Special in the Can-am celebration races at Silverstone in the car’s first competitive outing for more than 20 years.
Fred Davies was a British engineer who worked in America in the 1950s and ’60s for Sadler Racing Cars. He built the Chevrolet V8-powered car on his drive in 1962 and raced it with the SCCA.
The car later came to Europe and was restored by Peter Denty but had not been raced since the mid-1980s. It retired from the first race.
