Meeke’s the real deal

Kris Meeke’s per­for­mance on Rally Fin­land was stun­ning. Be­ing the first Brit to con­quer the fear­some roads is a truly epic per­for­mance.

Yes, he was run­ning first on the road (please don’t start that moan­ing and com­plain­ing again) but he is not do­ing the en­tire cham­pi­onship, and that must make it even harder for him.

I know he is do­ing lots of test­ing but noth­ing can pre­pare a driver for com­pe­ti­tion and the in­ten­sity it in­volves. He has only done four rounds of the 2016 cam­paign.

Although this is frus­trat­ing, it means that there can be some very good times ahead for the North­ern Ir­ish­man.

And, al­lied to Meeke’s mar­vel­lous re­sult, there was joy for Craig Breen too. Both of them have shown that they de­serve a proper crack at the ti­tle in 2017. Let the boys at it.
