Triple-header for­mat for Na­tional FF1600 gets back­ing of the teams

Pro­pos­als to change the for­mat of the Na­tional FF1600 Cham­pi­onship re­ceived sup­port at Don­ing­ton Park last week­end.

For the past two sea­sons each race week­end has com­prised of one 20-minute qualifying ses­sion and two 20-minute races, but driv­ers have been polled about spread­ing the same hour of track time evenly across one prac­tice ses­sion and three races.

Old­field boss James Old­field said: “The prin­ci­ple of the idea works bril­liantly. My team costs wouldn’t go up as they would still get the same track time. I would say en­try fees would have to go up a lit­tle bit be­cause it would use more of the timetable.
