American Hoyt competes in Formula 5000 as part of his holiday
American racer Brad Hoyt made his UK racing debut at Oulton Park after shipping his Formula 5000 Lola T330 from Minnesota for the Derek Bell Trophy races.
Hoyt also races a Hill GH1 Grand Prix car and has competed at Monaco several times, but this was his first UK race. “Greg Thornton invited us,” he said after making the trip a holiday.
“It was here or Brands Hatch and this date fitted better with school holidays,” said Hoyt, who was also due to share Thornton’s Chevron B8 in the Guards Trophy race until it broke early in the race.
“The circuit feels a bit like Mid-ohio,” he said of the Cheshire track.
