Amer­i­can Hoyt com­petes in For­mula 5000 as part of his hol­i­day

Amer­i­can racer Brad Hoyt made his UK rac­ing de­but at Oul­ton Park af­ter ship­ping his For­mula 5000 Lola T330 from Min­nesota for the Derek Bell Tro­phy races.

Hoyt also races a Hill GH1 Grand Prix car and has com­peted at Monaco sev­eral times, but this was his first UK race. “Greg Thorn­ton in­vited us,” he said af­ter mak­ing the trip a hol­i­day.

“It was here or Brands Hatch and this date fit­ted bet­ter with school hol­i­days,” said Hoyt, who was also due to share Thorn­ton’s Chevron B8 in the Guards Tro­phy race un­til it broke early in the race.

“The cir­cuit feels a bit like Mid-ohio,” he said of the Cheshire track.
