Leading World Endurance Championship drivers Anthony Davidson and Benoit Treluyer were forced to miss the Mexico round through injury.

Toyota racer Davidson bruised his ribs in a testing accident at Magny-cours in August but had been expected to race in Mexico.

However he withdrew after feeling discomfort in testing on Thursday.

“It is disappointing to come all the way here and then not be able to race but it’s the right decision,” said Davidson.

“I wasn’t comfortable in the car this morning and there is no point to take any risks, especially with Austin coming up [on September 17].”

Meanwhile, Treluyer drove the #7 Audi in free practice but wasn’t confident with taking part in the race as he recovers from sustaining a cracked vertebra in a training accident in July.

Both entries were therefore driven by just two drivers.
