Collard set on another qualifying masterclass to boost F3 title hopes
With three races left to run, four drivers hold a mathematical chance of claiming the BRDC British F3 Championship crown at Donington Park this weekend.
While Thomas Randle and Toby Sowery are more than 50 points off the lead, the fight for the title is most likely a two-horse race between leader Ricky Collard ( right) and Brazilian Matheus Leist.
Despite a brace of wins for Collard at Snetterton last time out, with Double R driver Leist his closest challenger on each of those race-winning occasions, a 15-point gap is all that splits the pair with 95 on offer at Donington. For MSA Formula graduate Collard, who only found himself with a drive in the series after Colton Herta vacated Carlin’s third seat to instead race in Euroformula Open, qualifying has been an area of huge improvement in 2016 – and a new strength that he hopes can lead him to the title.
