Campbell completes last Rally GB route checks
Wales Rally GB clerk of the course Iain Campbell has praised the hard work put in to preparing the route for next month’s event.
With much of the event being reversed from last year, new spectating areas had to be established and constructed in time for the start of the final European WRC round of the season on October 27.
Campbell, who was joined on the recce by event safety co-ordinator Sue Sanders and FIA safety delegate Ryland James, said: “This was probably our last chance to cover the route and to be able to implement any changes to our safety plans should they be required. Checking spectators have the best viewing locations is important, but it’s vital they can do so safely and enjoy the whole experience. I’m glad to say very little was changed during our recce of the route – testament to the amount of hard work put in by our volunteers over the last eight months.”
