El­fyn Evans will con­clude his WRC2 chal­lenge at the Tour of Cor­sica later this month. The Welsh­man’s en­try went in from M-sport late last week… Latvia’s de­layed Euro­pean Rally Cham­pi­onship Rally Liepaja gets un­der­way on Fri­day (Septem­ber 16) night. As well as Ka­jto Ka­je­tanow­icz chas­ing a sec­ond ERC ti­tle and lo­cal hero Ralfs Sir­ma­cis chas­ing a third ERC event win this sea­son, there will be plenty of in­ter­est in na­tional rally com­peti­tor, 15-year-old Kalle Ro­van­pera… Mads Ost­berg drove his own Ford Fi­esta R5 to sec­ond place on last week’s Rally Niedarsach­sen in Germany. The Nor­we­gian was us­ing the 80-mile asphalt event to gain more ex­pe­ri­ence ahead of the Tour of Cor­sica. Skoda Fabia R5 driver Fabian Kreim won the rally… De­spite re­tir­ing from the sec­ond day of Rally of Le­banon ear­lier this month, Nasser Al-at­tiyah has been con­firmed as Mid­dle East Rally cham­pion for the 12th time. The can­cel­la­tion of MERC rounds in Oman and Dubai meant no­body could catch the Qatari at next month’s Cyprus Rally, which be­comes the sea­son fi­nale. Mit­subishi driver Tamer Ghan­dour picked up his first MERC win in Len­abon… Hyundai con­firms Thierry Neuville and Dani Sordo will drive for the of­fi­cial team in Catalunya, while Kevin Ab­bring joins Hay­den Pad­don in the Hyundai N squad for the Spain’s mixed sur­face WRC round next month… Rally Swe­den CEO Glen Ols­son has con­firmed the ser­vice park for Fe­bru­ary’s event will be in Torsby, de­spite fears for the lack of ac­com­mo­da­tion in the area. The move is likely to of­fer a more snow-sure event with Torsby sit­ting fur­ther north-west and closer to the Nor­we­gian bor­der than Hag­fors…
