Bogie returning to Wales Rally GB with new car
David Bogie will attempt Wales Rally GB for a third consecutive year, the first in his Skoda Fabia R5.
The Scot retired last year after bursting an oil cooler. This year will be his first with CA1 Sport and his Skoda Fabia R5.
“We plan to do GB before coming back for more BRC next year,” said the Scot. “The last two years have been unkind to us. I’m up to speed with the car and I’ve built up some good performance. Last year we burst the oil cooler and the year before the jack failed during a wheel change.
“I think I’m on a different level compared to last year. As we’ve discussed before the results haven’t shown that, but the performance has been there, I do feel that. I know the car well and everything with having a big team like CA1 Sport behind us has helped us step up too. There’s no reason why we can’t go out and win the BRC next year.”
Last year Bogie didn’t pay for priority seeding and featured well behind the WRC2 runners on the road. With the experience he’s built up this year, he feels that’s time to change.
“For GB, we’ll do the priority seeding this year. Last year we caught the same car in two different stages. The organisers wouldn’t let us move so we caught him halfway through a stage at one point.”
