Swann to Trackrod in Subaru S12B
Robert Swann will take his Subaru Impreza S12B WRC onto gravel for the first time on the Trackrod Rally in two weeks’ time.
A regular national rally frontrunner, Swann has competed on asphalt in 2015 but will make the switch after picking up a rare gravel kit for the Prodrive machine.
“We’re going to convert the car in the next couple of weeks and try and get a shakedown in it before the event,” explained Swann. “We’ve not run it on gravel before. We’ve managed to get a gravel kit from WRC Spares.
“I just thought I’d love to try this car as we run the old S11 on gravel, and had some success with that. “[Petter] Solberg used it on Rally Jordan. Xavier Pons had it, it had more mileage with Robert Kubica as he drove it with First Parts.”
Swann, who will be co-driven on the Trackrod by Aled Davies, also plans to do the Wyedean later this year before heading out to compete on the gravel-based Rally Trinidad in March 2017.
Swann’s last appearence on gravel was the Tempest Rally in 2015, which he won on his debut in a Ford Fiesta R5. His last event was Barbados, finishing eighth.
