Stuntman Paul Swift will return to the Motorsport News Circuit Rally Championship for a second year in 2016/17, starting with a defence of his class win on the opening round at Oulton Park November.

Swift won the D1 Class in his Millington-powered Ford Escort Mk2, with wife Jessica in the co-driver’s seat. They finished fifth overall and fourth of the championship runners.

“My wife Jess will be sitting with me again and I think it’s the third time we’ve done it together. I’m looking forward to it,” said Swift, who admits some bad habits carry over from his stunt driving. “Drifting, I’m always getting pulled up for drifting,” he added. “I’m a showman at the end of the day. I have to slap myself across the wrist every now and again to not do that. With the Millington it’s very difficult to keep the car in a straight line anyway.”

Swift competed on three events in the Motorsport News Circuit Rally Championship last year; the Neil Howard, Jack Frost Stages at Croft and the Cadwell Park-based Alan Healy Memorial Rally. Swift hasn’t decided on the events he’ll undertake in 2016/17.
