Cammish crowned champion with brace
Porsche Carrera Cup GB
When Dan Cammish confirmed he would defend his Carrera Cup crown there was a feeling he couldn’t possibly be as dominant again. Well, he was. In fact he’s been even more dominant.
The Redline driver sealed the title with another double victory – unlike last year when he could only manage a second – and has already matched his 11-win total from 2015 with two races still to go.
“This means a hell of a lot,” enthused Cammish. “Winning a title is one thing but defending it is another.”
While Cammish was dominant in the opener, the battle behind was enthralling. Tom Oliphant claimed second – his maiden podium in the series – while Charlie Eastwood was an impressive third, completing an all-Redline rostrum after starting down in 11th.
Cammish was under pressure from Stephen Jelley in the early stages of race two, before easing away a little towards the end despite a mid-race safety car. Dino Zamparelli was third but that, and only a fifth in race one, put an end to the GT Marques driver’s title bid.
