Mason back to Pug power on Trackrod
Porsche driver Tim Mason will go back to his rallying roots by entering a Peugeot 205 GTI on the Trackrod Historic Cup.
His Porsche was sold after last year’s Trackrod and a new 911 has been built up. However, Mason is now unsure about using the car in the forests.
“Market forces have made the 911 into an incredibly expensive car to rally,” he said. “The fact that bodyshells and other parts are now unobtainable means I cannot rally the 911 until I have a spare shell.”
Mason said that the 205 came up as the best option: “We’ve sourced a basic ex-road rally car and have upgraded it, fitted some new Bilsteins and will use it on the Trackrod. It won’t set the world alight but if we see some potential we will develop it into a full Group A car.”
Mason first ran a Peugeot 205 Rallye on the 1993 Trackrod.
