Jackson steps up to Impreza for Wales Rally GB entry
With the help of the John Easson Award, reigning winner Matt Jackson will forego this weekend’s BTRDA finale for an assault on Wales Rally GB.
The Warwick driver – along with co-driver Claire Williams – has already sealed the BTRDA 1400S runner-up spot and will campaign a Subaru Impreza – a GC8 or N11 – in the national category of Wales Rally GB in October.
“We’re taking a step from a two-wheel-drive Nissan Micra to a four-wheel-drive Impreza,” said Jackson. “It’s going to be a tough step up but it’s a new challenge. John Easson has helped all the entries. After the off on Rally North Wales earlier this year, we would’ve had to have a long break if it wasn’t for the award paying the entries. Come the end of the year we’ve got second in 1400S already, so we’ve put the money we would have used to finish the BTRDA towards covering the whole GB entry.
“It’s nice to pay them back by doing something exciting and giving them a bit of publicity out of it.”
