Mick Schumacher missed out on claiming the German F4 title at Hockenheim last weekend.

The 17-year-old son of seven-time F1 champion Michael Schumacher headed into the final round with a 39-point deficit to Australian Joey Mawson.

Schumacher’s weekend got off to a tough start as he was one of seven drivers excluded after qualifying for an issue with their onboard fire extinguisher.

He therefore had to take part in the qualifying race and that led to a 22nd place start for the opening race. But despite surging up to sixth it was not enough to keep his title hopes alive as Mawson won the race.

Prema Powerteam driver Schumacher still has the opportunity to secure the Italian F4 title at Monza at the end of the month. He trails Marcos Siebert by 25 points with 48 still up for grabs.
