The Star of Mallory Formula Ford 1600 contest has been cancelled for this year because of concerns over a lack of entries.

The event was revived last season by Mallory owners Real Motorsport and FF1600 organiser James Beckett, with the 750 Motor Club due to help administer the meeting on October 16 this year and provide monetary prizes. But organisers have now taken the decision to cancel with time running out for entries.

“It’s a fortnight before the event and the entries were coming but we have to make the decision before it’s too late with marshals and logistics in place,” said Beckett. “Unfortunately the meeting won’t take place this year but it will be announced in much better time in 2017 and the Star of Mallory will run again.”

Beckett added that the event might be moved to earlier in the year in 2017 to avoid the congested FF1600 end-ofseason schedule.
