Thierry Neuville is expected to be announced as a Hyundai driver for next season – underlining the Korean team’s preferred option of retaining its current driver line-up into 2017.

The Belgian remained tight-lipped on the subject, but communication of a single-year extension to his deal is expected before Rally Spain. “A decision will be soon, probably before Spain, that’s the plan,” he told MN. “There have been so many different options, but in the end you have to choose one. I know what I want.”

Hyundai team principal Michel Nandan confirmed the team would be announcing its third driver imminently, but he wouldn’t be drawn on the identity.

Nandan has always made plain his desire to maintain his current drivers – especially with the confirmation that three cars can be registered to score manufacturer points next season.
