Half a WRC calendar confirmed by WMSC
Last week’s World Motor Sport Council confirmed the first half of next year’s World Rally Championship calendar.
Corsica will welcome the WRC back in just six months as the fourth round. Shifting the French island event was vital to fill the gap between two trips to the Americas for Mexico and Argentina.
Dates for the first seven rallies have been confirmed, with Finland, Germany, Spain, GB and Australia’s dates still to be finalised.
In addition to the 12 rallies revealed, one or two of Poland, Turkey and China will be selected to form a 13 or 14-round 2017 calendar.
Argentina and Italy have an asterisk and still require final agreement with the FIA and WRC Promoter.
The confirmed dates are: Monte Carlo (Jan 20-22), Rally Sweden (Feb 10-12); Rally Mexico (Mar 10-12), Tour of Corsica (April 7-9); Rally Argentina (Apr 28-30); Rally of Portugal (May 19-21); Rally Italy (Jun 9-11).
