Jennings back in Impreza in Donegal
Garry Jennings will return to the cockpit of his Subaru Impreza S12B WRC to fight Donegal International winner Manus Kelly on this weekend’s Donegal Harvest Rally.
Jennings hasn’t competed in the car since before the Ulster Rally when he drove a Mitsubishi Mirage R5.
Uncertainty had surrounded whether his S12B Subaru Impreza would be ready for the closing round of the Triton Showers National Rally Championship but the delivery of a new gearbox casing has lifted the threat of his non-attendance. “We’ve been waiting on it since July but it’s finally here,” he said.
Jennings will face opposition from number one seed Declan Boyle’s Ford Fiesta RS WRC and Kelly, who shocked many by winning in Donegal on only his second event in the Impreza S12B WRC hired from Melvyn Evans.
Meanwhile, Joe Mcgonigle will make his first start in a Skoda Fabia R5 on the event having purchased the Czech machine from BRC contender David Bogie.
The Irish National championship has already been won by Ford Fiesta WRC driver Roy White, who isn’t on the entry list.
