The MSA’S fault

Motor Sport News - - Sporting Scene -

It should be obvious where rally spectators have gone ( Motorsport News, Sept 28).

Ninety per cent of the cause of spectator loss can be expressed using the three letters: the MSA (Motor Sports Association).

The never ending dictates emanating from this dictatorial entity are killing grass roots motor sport.

All levels events seem to suffer from a plague of MSA officials, just look for yourself if you ever bother to attend another event. This plague and the dictates all in the name of ‘elf and safety’ ( most of which are unnecessary at club level ) will force a continuing decline in entries and spectators.

Does your columnist Jack Benyon enjoy being constrained in a pen in a lousy viewing location?

Spectators and, by association, sponsors are totally fed up by being treated as at best a nuisance by officials and, I am sorry to say, some organisers.
