Norris to make F3 debut ahead of Macau
British teenager Lando Norris will make his full Formula 3 debut this weekend in preparation for the Macau Grand Prix.
Norris, 16, will contest the European F3 championship finale at Hockenheim with Carlin, with which he competed sporadically in the British F3 championship this year. He will be joined by fellow Brits Dan Ticktum and Jake Hughes.
Double Formula Renault champion Norris and Ticktum – returning to racing after serving a year-long ban from the MSA – will contest the European F3 round to qualify for the Macau F3 World Cup event in November, but could both be forced to start the Hockenheim races from the pitlane as they have both exceeded the maximum number of private test days permitted by the championship.
Hughes will also compete at Hockenheim to qualify for Macau, but the GP3 racer will be able to start from the grid as he is not in contradiction of any F3 testing rules.
Norris and Hughes will then contest the Macau event with Carlin, while Ticktum will race with Double R – which quit the European F3 championship ahead of the 2016 campaign – alongside Alexander Sims, who will also race at Hockenheim with the Hitech GP team.
