British F4 team Richardson Racing will enter the Ginetta Junior Championship in 2017.

Richardson has most recently competed in the Formula Ford and British F4 championships, although it did run a programme in the 2016 Ginetta GT5 Challenge.

It will now expand to run a team in the Junior championship, which is open to drivers aged 14-17.

Team boss Gwyn Richardson said: “In the past 12 months, we have tested a number of young drivers in our F4 car who are looking to get onto the motorsport ladder but who aren’t currently old enough to race in the series.

“With that in mind, we thought it was the ideal time for us to look at what options were available if we were to introduce a Junior programme for young drivers like this, and there is nothing to beat the Ginetta series.”

The team is also considering an expansion into the GT4 division of the British GT Championship for 2017, and plans to test drivers throughout the winter in an Aston Martin Vantage.
