Bri­tish driv­ers bat­tle among them­selves in FIA Hill Climb Masters event

A num­ber of Uk-based com­peti­tors headed to the FIA Hill Climb Masters event in the Czech Repub­lic at Stern­berk last week­end.

The eight-strong Bri­tish en­try was in the open Cat­e­gory 3 for cars con­form­ing to the in­di­vid­ual reg­u­la­tions of their coun­try. It be­came a cat­e­gory the Bri­tish en­trants dom­i­nated.

Scot Wal­lace Men­zies fin­ished third with a 1m19.67s on his third and fi­nal run. The grand­stand fin­ish, how­ever, be­longed to Scott Moran and Trevor Wil­lis, who traded lead­ing times over all three runs af­ter typ­i­cally smooth and spec­tac­u­lar ef­forts re­spec­tively. On his last run Wil­lis pro­duced a 1m19.11s in his OMS, be­fore six-time Bri­tish cham­pion Scott Moran pro­duced a 1m18.93s.

Nine-time Euro­pean cham­pion Si­mone Fag­gi­oli won the event over­all.
