Double World Rallycross champion Petter Solberg is planning to race in the championship next season in a bid to retake the title, but won’t campaign his title-winning Citroen DS 3 Supercar.

“We are working on a few options. We have another meeting next week, and again the week after. We’re working on a lot of different things and we will see what will happen,” said Solberg.

The 2003 World Rally champion has been open about his desire to attract manufacturer support to his private outfit since winning his first World RX crown in 2014.

He added: “The plan is to stay in rallycross. We have had a couple of options to drive for other teams, but I want to run it myself. We have to find the right car and a manufacturer.”

Solberg says there is more pace to be found from his current car but regardless of what support, he will switch to a different chassis. “There’s more to come from my car, you just need more testing,” he explained. “But, I will not drive it next year anyway. That’s for sure.”
