Cal­en­dar set to be firmed up

This week’s World Rally Cham­pi­onship Com­mis­sion meet­ing will fi­nally bring clar­ity to a run­ning or­der de­bate which has rum­bled on all sea­son.

Mo­tor­sport News sources re­port there are four op­tions un­der con­sid­er­a­tion at Wed­nes­day’s Paris meet­ing – one of which is to leave the cham­pi­onship leader at the front of the field for the first two days of each round.

In ad­di­tion to run­ning or­der, the sec­ond half of the cal­en­dar dates will be added, with Rally Poland ex­pected to be run­ning in the first week in July.

Rally Turkey is also set to be in­cluded for the first time since 2010. Sar­dinia has signed a three-year agree­ment to host Italy’s round of the cham­pi­onship and Rally GB will re­main as the penul­ti­mate round in the same date as this year next sea­son.

WRC Pro­moter staff have also con­firmed they will visit New Zealand af­ter Rally Aus­tralia, rais­ing fur­ther hopes of a World Cham­pi­onship re­turn to the North Is­land in 2018.
