Macmillan team adds Aston Martin GT3 for British GT
The Macmillan Racing team will run a dual assault on British GT next year after adding an Aston Martin Vantage GT3 to its stable and signing Jack Mitchell to race it.
The team ran a single Vantage in the GT4 division this year for Mitchell and Matthew Graham. The pair finished fifth in the points.
While Macmillan will continue to field that car, it has also invested in a GT3 variant to step up a class. It has already tested several drivers for the second seat alongside Mitchell.
Team boss David Macmillan said: “Racing at the highest level in the UK with just one season of racing behind us may seem a big step, but we are ready for the challenge. We wanted to create a GT ladder, to give drivers and engineers the chance to progress.”
Mitchell said: “I immediately felt the difference in terms of aero with the GT3. Trusting yourself to carry more speed into the corners and knowing the car will stick takes some getting used to. The new Silver-am GT3 class is tempting as the established guys at the front have a lot more experience, so being able to fight for something while developing as a driver is a good incentive.”
