Robert Andrew ‘Robin’ Laird, 1959 – 2016

Motor Sport News - - Rally News - John Fife

Scottish rallying was stunned last week when it learned of the tragedy which befell Robin Laird. The popular co-driver was crushed by a car he was working on at home.

A member of Scottish Sporting Car Club, Robin was a volunteer and participant, co-driving primarily for Gordon Winning, Ricky Wheeler, Scott Crawford and more recently, the young Taylor Gibb. A former Autotest champion and Club champion of both Kilmarnock and Loudon CC and Scottish Sporting CC, he also won the Scottish Tarmack Co-drivers’ Championship in 2002.

He’ll be sorely missed, not only by us all in rallying, but more importantly by Fran, his partner of 22 years, and her son Jaimie, his immediate and wider family, and huge circle of friends and acquaintances.
