John Stone set for MN series return after Oulton retirement
John Stone will return to the Motorsport News Circuit Rally Championship on this weekend’s Cadwell Stages, providing his engine is repaired in time.
Stone’s Ford Fiesta S2500 drowned out in the watersplash in the championship’s opening round, the Neil Howard Stages, on November 5 while he and co-driver Carl Williamson were leading the event. The car lasted one more stage before retiring.
“To be fair to them, they’ve worked night and day to get it fixed,” said Stone of Millington engines. “The watersplash ripped the rear ’diff guard off, bent it 90 degrees and pushed the car up at the back and down at the front. It destroyed the bottom end.”
The North Humberside Car Club-run event returns to the MN championship for a second year and also forms rounds of the ANEMMC, Road Runner, EMAMC and ANWCC championship.
