In Qatar, Gabriele Tar­quini and Me­hdi Ben­nani shared the spoils as the World Tour­ing Car Cham­pi­onship sea­son came to an end. In Lada’s fi­nal event in the cham­pi­onship, Tar­quini got the bet­ter of Se­bastien Loeb Rac­ing driver Tom Chilton af­ter a race on restart to clinch his sec­ond win of the sea­son, while Ben­nani con­verted a first qual­i­fy­ing pole into vic­tory in the main race. Four-time cham­pion Yvan Muller bowed out of tin tops with fourt­hand sixth-place fin­ishes… The Man­field cir­cuit that hosts the New Zealand Grand Prix has been re­named af­ter Chris Amon, fol­low­ing his death in Au­gust. The grand prix was twice won by Amon, in 1968 and ’69, when it was held at Pukekohe as part of the Tas­man series. Man­field has held the race since 2008, and will be known as Man­field: Cir­cuit Chris Amon… Ser­gio Sette Ca­mara will step up to GP2 next sea­son af­ter agree­ing a move to the MP Motorsport team. Ca­mara, who has been part of the Red Bull ju­nior pro­gramme this year, fin­ished third in the Ma­cau Grand Prix ear­lier this month in a one-off out­ing with Carlin, hav­ing con­tested the Euro­pean series with Mo­topark. Oliver Row­land, who raced with MP in GP2 this sea­son, is tipped to switch to the DAMS team for 2017… Blanc­pain GT driver Jules Szymkowiak was an­nounced as the win­ner of the first Sean Ed­wards Tro­phy Young Driver award. The Dutch­man Szymkowiak, 21, who raced a Mercedes AMG GT3 car in Blanc­pain’s sta­ble of series, was se­lected as the win­ner of the award – which was awarded in mem­ory of Ed­wards, who died while in­struct­ing in 2013, and de­signed to help the ca­reers of young driv­ers aged 21 and un­der...
