Shield wins 750MC’S Novice driver prize
M3 Cup driver Carl Shield has won the 750 Motor Club’s John Miles Novice Driver Award for his performances in the new series this season.
The annual award – which for 2016 was altered to reward the club’s stand-out rookie – includes a £1000 donation from former grand prix driver Miles, a figure that will be matched by the 750 MC in credit to be deducted from Shield’s 2017 entry fees.
Durham-based Shields, a former motocross and speedway rider, was selected by Miles as the club’s most impressive rookie, after he won at Snetterton and scored six further podiums.
Miles, who participated in 15 F1 grands prix between 1969-1970 for Team Lotus, will present the prize to Shield at the club’s Awards evening on January 21.
