Milner confirms GT5 Challenge campaign
Junior Saloon Car champion Katie Milner has ordered a Ginetta G40 GT5, as she plans an assault on the 2017 Ginetta GT5 Challenge campaign in 2017.
Milner will run under the family Merlin International team and plans to treat her debut season in the category as a learning curve.
“We considered jumping up to the Supercup this year, but we thought that might just be too big a step,” said Milner. “We felt the GT5 Challenge was the right fit, it’s lower powered but there’s still plenty to learn like rear-wheel-drive driving.
“We want to use the first year to learn as it’s obviously going to be a massive experience and a big learning curve for me.”
While Milner is set for a Ginetta switch, it could have come much earlier in her career. She had planned to join the Ginetta Juniors rather than the Junior Saloons.
“The Juniors were just way too expensive, and that’s why we went for the Saxos,” she said. “We’re eventually aiming to get into GT racing and that’s still the goal.”
