F3 squad SWR adds GT4 assault to plans
BRDC British Formula 3 outfit Sean Walkinshaw Racing will add a GT4 campaign to its singleseater commitments in 2017, campaigning a pair of Nissan 370Zs in the GT4 European Series Northern Cup.
Owned by Blancpain GT Series driver Sean Walkinshaw, SWR will make its first foray into endurance racing with a full campaign in the six-round Sro-organised Northern Cup.
Alongside that commitment, the outfit also expects to contest select rounds of the British GT championship next year.
“We’re all incredibly excited by the move into endurance racing for SWR, especially with the Nissan 370Z,” said team owner Walkinshaw. “It’s a fantastic step for the team and a great opportunity to branch out into GT racing.
“We have already had the cars on track and believe the Nissan 370Z is a competitive vehicle in Europe and British GT. We’re currently evaluating drivers for our available seats, and keen to hear from others too as we prepare to hit the ground running next year.”
The team is expected to return to the BRDC British F3 fold in 2017, although is yet to confirm those plans.
