Grosjean signs up for Andros Trophy season
Haas Formula 1 driver Romain Grosjean will contest the third round of the Andros Trophy Ice Racing Winter Series at Alpe d’huez this weekend.
He will race alongside reigning champion and World RX podium finisher, Jean-baptiste Dubourg. The Frenchman will race a V6-engined spaceframed Renault Clio in the Elite Pro category.
“I am doing this for two reasons,” said Grosjean, who has made occasional appearances in the discipline since his debut in 2009. “It is a real pleasure to be able to drive the Silhouettes (class) car with four-wheel drive and fourwheel steering on the ice, it’s simply pure happiness! Then, for me it’s the ideal opportunity to meet the Dubourg family and share our common passions, as well as our friendship. It always produces unforgettable moments.”
While cautious about his prospects, Grosjean has won in Andros Trophy before and is targeting a podium this weekend. “There are many elements that motivate me to drive with the team, to try to race at the front and go for a podium, which would be my first in 2016,” he added.
