Ellis gets a Lancer E10 ahead of Belgium
British driver Johnnie Ellis has switched from a Subaru Impreza to a Mitsubishi Lancer E10 for this year’s assault on Belgium.
Ellis was a podium finisher on the Hemicuda Rally alongside co-driver Marc Fowler, and will now return to the country after three rallies in the UK.
“We’re doing Brands [Brands Hatch Stages], then South Down Stages at Goodwood, then Snetterton Stages and then we’re back out to Belgium,” he said.
“We have a new car being built, I’m collecting it from Holland on January 9. It’s an Evo 10 [Mitsubishi Lancer E10]. It’s not a world car but it’s an uprated R4.”
Ellis did consider stepping up to an R5-specification car, but elected against it for the Belgian roads.
“It’s left-hand drive, sequential box, all the business,” he added. “It’s the car that’s going to give us more power and torque. I didn’t fancy making the jump to an R5 purely on running costs, so we’ve gone for this and hopefully we can have some podium finishes.”
