Bennett gets Fabia for Junior BRC in 2017
Provisional Junior Formula 1000 champion Peter Bennett has purchased a Skoda Fabia R2 ahead of a bit-part assault on the Junior British Rally Championship in 2017.
The 2015 Scottish Junior 1000 champion can’t make his debut until after his 17th birthday in May, which could make Ypres his senior rally debut.
“The plan is to do plenty of testing and some hillclimbs,” said Peter’s father, Craig. “From May onwards our plan is to do the remainder of the BRC events and a few Irish Tarmac rounds, if he can get his driving licence quick enough.”
Bennett added that the Skoda has become a more appealing package after going through evolutions.
“We went to look at a Skoda and we were very impressed,” he added. “The car has had a number of evolutions and the horsepower and torque is similar to an Opel Adam now. There’s a new suspension evolution going through homologation that should come in March.”
A Fabia R2 didn’t enter the BRC in 2016.
