British series get renewed Road to Indy deals
Three Formula Ford championships have the opportunity to send nominated drivers to the Mazda Road to Indy Shootout in America for a second year in succession.
The shootout – run in its current format for the first time in 2016 – gives a number of drivers the chance to earn £160,000 towards a campaign in the USF2000 Championship in America.
The BRSCC FF1600 National and Scottish championships, as well as the Superseries will all send drivers. The BRSCC and Scottish series will send its champions while the Superseries runs its own shootout to decide who it sends to Laguna Seca.
In 2016, Oliver White came close to taking the prize, which eventually went to Formula Ford Festival and Walter Hayes Trophy frontrunner Oliver Askew.
“It gives the drivers a chance to fulfil an aspiration to move on to the next level and/or go for a trip of a lifetime,” said Superseries’ organiser James Beckett. “We’re proud to be part of it and when we were first approached 18 months ago we were eager to join.
“Ollie did a great job. Hopefully we can send someone of an equal standing this year.”
