Stars set for For­mula Ford 50th cel­e­bra­tion

Grand prix rac­ers Johnny Her­bert and Jonathan Palmer, Le Mans win­ner Nick Tandy and Euro­pean For­mula 2 cham­pion Geoff Lees will be among the driv­ers cel­e­brat­ing 50 years of For­mula Ford dur­ing Autosport In­ter­na­tional this week.

Star driv­ers from For­mula Ford will gather at 1400hrs on Fri­day as the HSCC (stand 6710) kicks off a sea­son of cel­e­bra­tions.

Mark­ing the be­gin­ning of the cat­e­gory in 1967 will be Ray Allen, win­ner of the first race at Brands Hatch, while the story comes up to date with Niall Mur­ray, win­ner of the 2016 Wal­ter Hayes Tro­phy.

Other suc­cess­ful driv­ers in­clude Joey Foster and Scott Malvern, while Ire­land will be rep­re­sented by Arnie Black, Bernard Dolan and Trevor Tem­ple­ton.

From the 1970s and 1980s will be some of the cat­e­gory’s most pop­u­lar rac­ers like Rick Mor­ris, John Vil­lage, Jim Walsh, John Bright and Ju­lian Bai­ley.
