Stars set for Formula Ford 50th celebration
Grand prix racers Johnny Herbert and Jonathan Palmer, Le Mans winner Nick Tandy and European Formula 2 champion Geoff Lees will be among the drivers celebrating 50 years of Formula Ford during Autosport International this week.
Star drivers from Formula Ford will gather at 1400hrs on Friday as the HSCC (stand 6710) kicks off a season of celebrations.
Marking the beginning of the category in 1967 will be Ray Allen, winner of the first race at Brands Hatch, while the story comes up to date with Niall Murray, winner of the 2016 Walter Hayes Trophy.
Other successful drivers include Joey Foster and Scott Malvern, while Ireland will be represented by Arnie Black, Bernard Dolan and Trevor Templeton.
From the 1970s and 1980s will be some of the category’s most popular racers like Rick Morris, John Village, Jim Walsh, John Bright and Julian Bailey.
