Aal­to­nen back to Monte in a Mini

Rauno Aal­to­nen will drive a Mini Cooper S on the 20th Ral­lye Monte Carlo His­torique, 50 years af­ter he won the Monte Carlo Rally in a sim­i­lar car.

Over 300 cars will be headed away by 2016 win­ner and for­mer Bri­tish GT cham­pion Daniele Per­fetti in his Re­nault Alpine. Other fa­mous names en­tered in­clude Jean Rag­notti and Jur­gen Barth.

Over 20 UK crews will com­pete, with the UK starters leav­ing Glas­gow from 1800hrs to­day (Wed­nes­day).

The event opens with seven con­cen­tra­tion runs be­fore the routes con­verge on Digne-les-bains on Satur­day. Af­ter four days, the ac­tion fin­ishes late on Tues­day night with a night run tak­ing in the Col de Turini.
