Donegal winner Kelly commits to Irish National series
Manus Kelly has committed to a full year in the Irish National Rally Championship in 2017, while also attempting to defend his Donegal International victory.
Kelly beat Keith Cronin in a laststage decider on Donegal last year, and he’s hoping that more seat time in the same Subaru Impreza S12B WRC prior to the event will ensure he’s competitive again.
“The plan is to do four or five rounds of the National Championship and then go into Donegal match fit, and as quick as possible,” said Kelly. “We have decided to see out the National Championship this year and see how it goes.
“Hopefully we will be there competing against Declan [Boyle], Garry [Jennings] and Donagh [Kelly] again. There will be a good bit of rivalry and battle going on there all year if that is the case.
“I would still see myself as the underdog, but you would hope with the mileage done I should be knocking on the door.”
