Armstrong hoping for R5 BRC outings
Jon Armstrong is hoping to compete on the Pirelli Carlisle and Ulster rallies in an R5 car, as he looks to prepare for his prize drive outings in the World Rally Championship.
Armstrong won two drives in a Dmack-supported Ford Fiesta R5 in WRC2. It is expected that he’ll compete in Poland and Spain, subject to approval, the two events he won in the Drive DMACK Trophy last year earning him the prize.
“I want to do the Pirelli and the Ulster if we can get the money together to hire an R5,” explained Armstrong. “It’s probably £15,000 even if you do it cheaply though.
“I want to go four-wheel drive now. We have a Subaru [Impreza] N12, but I don’t like it as it’s right-hand drive.
“It’s pretty much confirmed that it will be Poland and Spain [for the DMACK prize drive]. They thought I should do those as we won those two last year.”
