Ahmed claims his first Toyota Racing Series win
Enaam Ahmed took his first Toyota Racing Series victory in the reverse grid second race at Hampton Downs circuit.
Ahmed, who will compete in BRDC British F3 with Carlin in 2017, headed off Red Bull Junior and Formula Renault Eurocup-bound Richard Verschoor, setting a lap record in the process.
Ameya Vaidyanathan – who also competed in F3 last year with Carlin – rounded out the top five.
Another BRDC British F3 convert and Ahmed’s team-mate at Douglas last year, Thomas Randle, won the third race of the weekend and became the first Aussie to win the New Zealand Motor Cup for 42 years.
Randle now sits second in the standings, 23 points behind Verschoor. Ahmed lies sixth, with two rounds remaining at Taupo and Manfeild respectively.
