MG Metro Cup champion Ben Rushworth will run a Honda Integra Type R in the 750 Motor Club’s Hot Hatch series this year, after abandoning plans to campaign his Metro.

Rushworth planned to race an updated version of his title-winning car in 2017 after announcing he would switch to Hot Hatch, but has acquired an Integra DC2 Type R that he is now building ahead of the new season.

“I was going to enter the Metro, put a bigger engine in but I’d have to do a couple of things like put bigger wheels on and get it up to speed with things like a new gearbox,” he said. “I knew a couple of people, including a guy who had an Integra Type R for sale.

“It’s low, it’s got a great shape for drag and has a good wheelbase – but I’m probably doing just as much work as I would have done on the Metro.”
